Housing rights protests

Neither sky-high rents nor bottom-rock wages

This spring, we are taking to the streets again to defend the right to housing and to fight the rising cost of living. We are mobilizing in a coordinated wave across cities throughout the country.

Speculation has turned housing into a living hell.

  • You end up spending more than half your salary on rent. You look for a flat and all you find are tiny, overpriced dumps for a thousand euros. And even if you already have a home, it breaks your heart to see your daughters unable to afford to move out.
  • We are being pushed out of our homes simply because they can. Because it’s legal to get rich off a basic right.

As a result, homes become concentrated in the hands of a few, and inequality soars. Meanwhile, the far right blames migrants for the problem.

But we are clear about it: landlords are to blame, and governments are responsible.

Housing is killing us

This is a problem for all of society, not just tenants. Housing costs are rising, grocery bills are rising, and fuel prices are rising. Meanwhile, wages and pensions are falling further and further behind prices. We are becoming poorer and poorer while a minority grows rich at our expense.

We cannot normalize this situation or accept going on like this. Slavery, the subordination of women, and child labor were all legal at some point, but when we organize, we can change the rules of the game. Join the demonstration.

OUR DEMANDS

1. Indefinite rental contracts. Rent reductions. A minimum wage and minimum pension of €1,500.

2. Expropriate large property owners and create a publicly owned housing stock outside the market to end evictions.

3. A law against tenant exploitation: end short-term rentals and room rentals.
